There is little wonder Amy yearns to rebel. However, at this young and impressionable age, she is also being taught that her happiness will be dependent on male approval, and this toxic belief hijacks her rebellion.
It is more of a film of a young and innocent child being exposed and rebellion from a broken family due to peer pressure by exposure of other more “mature” girls.
It’s enacted by every one of us every single day when we complain about our weight, when we purchase those special diet plans advertised on TV, when we discuss our beauty spa appointments for botox, when we sponsor our little girls in toddler beauty pageants. The conservatives condemning this movie as a celebration of tween sexualization are off-base, I think, although their outrage is a little understandable given the original, misleading but.

The language changes, her appearance does, her behaviour nose-drives – all the time, she is enticed because of how media sexualises women models etc in skimpy outfits.

I give up on my actual review. The story is about her internal and external conflict and emotional development in regards to this. I feel it should have just been done without the focus or less focus than it had been BUT that may be me affected by current sentiment.
